If the slant cut look really bugs you, you can try one of these adapters for the VEPR, which has an even more pronounced slant, and file it to size. It should fit since the VEPR uses a 1.5 mm thick receiver, close to a MAK's 1.6 mm. Looks like it would be a hell of a lot of work, but I'm sure it's worth it to some:

I would like to replace the thumbhole stock and other furniture with an AK stock set - either in polymer or wood. From what I read, the slant cut and the fact that it was once equipped with an underfolder makes this a challenge. Norinco MAK 90 AK-47. Post ban, with the thumbhole stock, slant cut stamped receiver, all matching numbers. All original, maybe 200 rounds fired, with a 30 round metal surplus magazine. Very good condition. They will command more on the price and they are heavier. Personally, I prefer the stamped versions. AK’s rust, so be alert when buying. As for Ironwood Designs, their stock for the milled MAK-90 comes with a special long bolt that goes through the stock into the receiver and uses a nut to lock it in place. Very solid. As to color, they make them unfinished to allow you to tailor it to the exact color of the other parts you are using.
